Ravi Sehgal started his business in 1976 in Bangkok as a small shop selling fabric. Some of the fabric was sold to US Servicemen who frequently passed through Bangkok during the wind up of the Vietnam war.
Ravi watched them take his fabric to local tailors in order to get custom made clothing made, however due to language barriers, they struggled to explain their exact requirements and often the garment was not the desired finish. Ravi spoke fluent English so he frequently offered to translate between the clients and the local tailors. He was playing the middleman.
So Ravi decided to create an exclusive in-house tailoring team consisting of bespoke pattern cutters and began the first of many design and measurement courses. After 4 years of intense study, both theory and practice, he opened his first store and the Ravi Sehgal Bespoke brand was born.
The store continued to flourish creating bespoke clothing for International customers. Within ten years customers were inviting him to Europe and America to to order bespoke tailoring directly.
After 3 decades of measuring, following fashion and traveling, Ravi Sehgal is now the proud owner of his flagship store and regularly serves clients on 3 continents via his TRUNK SHOWS and has a fully experienced team and workshop to compliment his orders both local and internationally.
Ravi’s son, Amit, was very much born into the industry. Amit has seen his father grow from a small shop to an actual brand. Amit is now fully involved in the business and has set up a production house that caters to other brands overseas.
Throughout the whole expansion, the ethos of the brand has never changed. Today the focus is still on high quality and precise craftsmanship.
Amit now accompanies his father on all the International trips and they are proud to be running this family business and growing it to the next stage.
